Prepare for Beyoncé's 'Renaissance' film: What to wear, how to do mute challenge

For fans who missed Beyoncé’s summer renaissance, there’s still hope.
Bey’s record-breaking Renaissance World Tour beckoned fans to take part in an experience of a lifetime. The string of concerts kicked off in May 2023, and if fans were lucky enough, they were in attendance.
But for those who couldn’t make any of the “Cuff It” singer’s 56 shows, her upcoming documentary “Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé” is coming to save the day and help some experience it for the first time.
The movie gives an inside look at the inner workings of the tour and chronicles Beyoncé’s creative process. But it’s not a typical cinema experience. In true Bey fashion, it will be a time to remember and fans should be prepared.
Consider this an easy 5-step guide with friendly tips on what to expect.
Dress to impress
Beyoncé set the dress code for her Los Angeles premiere as "cozy opulence," and she chose "upscale opulence" as the attire for the London premiere. Some fans are drawing inspiration from the cozy opulence theme and looking to go all out for their cinema fit checks.
Even if moviegoers opt for a more "casual" option, expect everyone to be decked out in silver and metallics of all sorts to pay homage to the dress code of the Renaissance tour.
'Look around everybody on mute!'
This is a big one. The mute challenge is a concert phenomenon that prompts fans to freeze and go completely silent after Beyoncé sings “look round everybody on mute,” during her performance of “Energy.” Those who haven’t had practice at the shows, might want to practice at home. Don’t be that person who is still jamming to the beat once the music halts. Read the room and take part in the iconic moment.
Watch out for the 'Big 3'
Fans are hopeful the film will feature three songs Beyoncé rarely performed on tour — ”Drunk in Love,” “All Up In Your Mind” and “Thique,” dubbed the Big 3. Bey only gave some cities the Big 3, despite a national outcry from fans to hear them live. So even some fans who did see the tour live are hoping the film will round out their Reinaissance tour experience.
'She ain’t no diva!'
Whether you’ve attended a show or not, you’ve most likely seen this expression across your social media feed. The "Diva" meme challenge emerged after a clip surfaced online of Beyoncé performing her 2008 hit “Diva.” In the video Yoncé points at a member of the audience while singing “she ain’t no diva.” It appears to be done in a playful manner; however, fans ran with it and the question remains: who was she talking about? Either way, don’t be her! Before entering the building, channel your best “I’m that girl” energy.
Expect the unexpected
The Beyhive knows one can never truly guess what Beyoncé has up her fanciful sleeves. Fans have been begging for visuals, and it’s fair to assume Bey will quench that thirst in one form or another. There’s no telling what special surprises are in store, but be prepared for an interactive experience. Expect to be on your feet, dancing on beat and singing along!
The official premiere of "Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé" will take place in Los Angeles on Nov. 25 and in London Nov 30.
The movie is set to hit theaters worldwide Dec 1.
